Shirley Moulton, M.S.

Shirley Moulton, M.S., has spent her entire career of over 35 years working with children who have disabilities (including but not limited to: autism, ADHD, behavior disorders, other health impairments, and learning disabilities). She has also worked with non-disabled and gifted children. She has a Master of Science degree in Special Education, and two Bachelor's degrees; one in Psychology and one in Special Education. She believes every child, whether classified with a disability or not, has many talents and gifts. She loves being a mother and a grandmother most of all!

Magic Moon: A Young Boy's Journey (Vol. 1) is actually a story I told to my grandchildren one night. I was using a large flashlight, shining it on the ceiling. Two rings glowed around the central light, so I made this "Magic Moon." I developed the story with "Magic Moon" having the power to grant two requests.

My then 3-year-old granddaughter wanted one request to be how to find something lost. Yes, this is her "Dolly" in the story. She actually lost her old, dirty, battered dolly once, and could not find it after looking for several days. My daughter, her mother, searched online and found only one dolly just like hers and ordered it as a replacement. It arrived, but by then her dolly had been found. She still prefers her original, old, dirty, battered dolly and does not want the new one!

The second request for "Magic Moon" was an idea my then 6-year- old grandson liked. A day later I thought, "This would make a great children's book!" I decided to write it for my grandkids! It was easy to write, it just "flowed." I asked my youngest sister, Marilyn Whitchurch, to do the illustrations, which I love!

This is a special book for me as I was able to show the book proof to my mother before she passed away, and I was able to read it to my last Special Education class before I retired!

Since then I have written and published four more Magic Moon books! Magic Moon: Sister's Turn (Vol. 2) and Magic Moon: Two Worlds (Vol. 3), Magic Moon: A New Beginning (Vol. 4) and Magic Moon: Bears Ears (Vol. 5).

Magic Moon: A Young Boy's Journey (Vol. 1) has just been made into an audiobook!

I hope to continue to make a positive difference in the lives of children by sharing these books!

Marilyn Whitchurch, Illustrator

Marilyn Whitchurch earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Art Education.

She loves all things magical and has been creating drawings from her imagination and observations ever since she can remember. Her dream is to one day see a unicorn in the real world and convince it to pose for a drawing (after she rides it, of course).

Another dream she had was to illustrate a children’s book, which is now fulfilled. In fact, she has illustrated two children's books, and illustrated covers for three more children's Magic Moon chapter books now!

She resides in Utah and is married to her college sweetheart. They have three children who have their own kind of magic.

Cody Moulton, Web Developer & Design

Cody Moulton, Web Developer and Design, Design and Design Elements for Magic Moon Children’s Books and Cover Designer for Magic Moon, A New Beginning (Vol. 4) and Design Elements for Magic Moon: Two Worlds (Vol. 3) and Magic Moon: Bears Ears (Vol. 5) has been creative in art and music his entire life. He has also been a drummer for over 18 years.

Derek Moulton, Sound Engineer

Derek Moulton has been involved with audio recording, mixing, mastering and engineering for 10 years. He has his own recording studio where his passion is writing music.

He has fully produced multiple music albums and worked with several musicians. He takes great pride in his work and is always working towards improving his craft. (Derek is not accepting new clients at this time.)

Derek is an Electrical Engineer.

Shilo Dennis, Narrator

Shilo Dennis loves to sing and act. From ages 7 to 14, she performed in many solo vocal concerts, plays, commercials, television shows and a movie. Most significantly she played the lead role of “Mary” in “The Secret Garden." She also played the role of “Helen” in the “It Came Upon a Midnight Clear” episode of Touched By An Angel, and she co-starred in the movie “Mr. Atlas.”

She continues this hobby by goofing off with and reading aloud to her family. She also has a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology and works for a well-known company in a leadership position in experience and program management.
